If you commute to work or pay for parking, consider using the PayFlex commuter benefit.
You can set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for qualified transit and parking expenses. In 2020, the transit monthly pre-tax limit is $270, and the parking monthly pre-tax limit is $270. If your transit or parking costs exceed these limits, you can set aside unlimited after-tax deductions to cover the difference. Your transit or parking costs will be paid through payroll deductions.
When you purchase your transit pass online, you’ll receive it directly at your home address. Be sure to think ahead when you’re planning your commute. When you enroll and purchase a pass by the first of the month, it will be mailed by the 23rd of that month. For example, if you’d like to receive your transit pass by May 1, you’ll need to enroll and purchase it on April 1. You also have the option to enroll in a MasterCard Commuter Check Card that you can use to make transit payments.
The monthly parking payment will be mailed directly to the specified parking location that you select. In most cases, PayFlex will be able to pay your parking vendor directly. If this isn’t possible, you’ll be able to submit a claim form to PayFlex and receive reimbursement.
